Oh Winter, here we come!

When I photographed Tiffany’s dog Slade (see earlier post), she took me on the rooftop of her building which has the most magnificent view of Atlanta. It was a little gloomy and cold outside that day, but seriously, look at this view! I am hoping to do a photo shoot there sometime. I don’t know what yet, but it will be perfect for something.

Cosi Van Tutti

Last week was our last photo shoot for the Atlanta Opera class for Cosi Van Tutti, an 18th Century Italian Opera. Luckily we had some great models for the shoot, and my dear friend Kylie who is so talented did the makeup. This is Dallas, she works at the Altanta Opera and I just LOVE this shot. I captured this at the very end of the shoot, and I am so happy I did. Thanks again Dallas! It’s my new favorite image.

Slade

2009 December 12

A few weeks ago my friend Tiffany asked me to take a few pictures of her pug Slade for her Christmas card. Well first of all, he was wearing an adorable little doggie outfit, and second of all, he sat completely still. He actually looked at the camera! Tiffany’s friend owns and designs card for Metrobabycards and they posted the Christmas Card on their blog. It is so cute! Thanks Tiffany for all your help, and thanks Metrobabycards for posting the image on there.

Sophie’s Collage

2009 December 8

I was procrastinating doing my homework last night so I decided to try something out and design a little image collage for baby Sophie. I just finished editing all her images so I figured I could play around for a minute. This is what I came up with.

Going to bed now. I think tomorrow will be a long day and a late night.

Marley and Sam

2009 December 1

I often babysit for the Laird family here in Atlanta and they have two little girls Marley and Sam! They are like two cute little energizer bunnies, always going, always happy, and so smart. If there is one thing I have noticed in my babysitting years, it’s that kids are sponges. They soak up everything, repeat everything and you never know what they might pick up. I will never forget the day that Christine asked me if I had taught Marley the Alphabet. I thought to myself for a minute and then replied, “no, I don’t think we ever went over the alphabet.” Well, come to find out her Sesame Street TV show went over the letters and numbers and all of a sudden she knew every single one. Amazing! But back to my point, not only are Marley and Sam so darn cute, they are also so smart. I asked Christine if I could take a few pictures of the girls for practice and to build my kids portfolio and these are my favorites.

The pink balloon I brought was a huge hit.

That’s all for now.

Andy & Jenny

2009 November 26

A few weeks ago I took pictures of my best friend’s brother Andy and his wife Jenny for their 2009 Christmas Card! With the fall leaves and the great weather, it was a perfect day for pictures at Piedmont Park! These are my favorites.

Some cute ones from the slide.

And I LOVE this one!

Thanks again Andy and Jenny! You guys are the best.

Little Ones

2009 November 11

It’s been so long since I have posted anything on my blog, and I am sure my blog feels totally neglected. I have no idea where to even start. So I figured I would post some fun pictures. I was lucky enough to take a great road trip all the way through Alabama, Mississippi, and up to Memphis in September. It was such a fantastic trip, despite all the rain, and I was fortunate enough to have great friends to visit along the way. I am still editing through the 2000 images I took, but here is a picture of Courtney and I in Memphis when I was visiting.

This isn’t exactly new, but I forgot to download the image until a few weeks ago and I just love it.

And because I always enjoy it, and because it keeps me photographing and gaining experience, I love to photograph kids and babies. If you haven’t ever photographed kids, they are extremely funny to work with, yet really hard to get a great shot sometimes. If you have one kid, that is one thing, but if you have two kids, one is always looking the other direction. I always find it challenging, kind of like a work out, and yet so rewarding when I get a great shot. I photographed Maggie and Charley a few weeks ago, and they are just so precious! Really, they are the sweetest little girls. Here are a few of my favorites.

Two weeks ago I photographed my cousin Jim’s new baby girl Sophie. Isn’t she adorable.

Mrs. Eaves is one of my favorite typefaces from Emigre, and now they have Mrs. Eaves. I am so excited and I can’t wait to get the font. Isn’t it lovely!

Murphy North Carolina

A few weeks ago I decided to join Kay and David at their lakehouse for the weekend in Murphy NC. It’s about 2 hours and 20 minutes from Atlanta, so it is not a bad drive at all. Honestly, the drive was a photographers haven. I saw so many shots along the way. What a beautiful day it was too! The morning fog was so thickI just had to stop and take a few pictures. Here are my favorites from the weekend.

Felix

2009 August 11

Last week we had the pleasure of having Felix Sockwell come to school and do a seminar. Super funny, charismatic, and witty. I love his posters and icons. He’s a great designer, and to top things off, I even won two of his posters. Here are some of my favorite designs of his.

Anyways, I also got the pleasure and great opportunity to photograph him. Luckily when I met him I know it would be a fun shoot and this is what we came up with.
